Plaid Friday was conceived from the idea of weaving the individual threads of small businesses together to create a strong fabric that celebrates the diversity and creativity of independent businesses. Plaid Friday is the relaxing and enjoyable alternative to the big box store “Black Friday,” and is designed to promote both local and independently owned businesses during the holidays. Started by our dear neighbor Kerri Johnson of Marion and Rose's Workshop, Plaid Friday has become a way for the small businesses of Oakland to really shine.
We are so excited to be part of this important movement (that is NOT sponsored by a big credit card company) and we hope to make Friday a fun and relaxing time to hang out with friends and family and celebrate independent shops and makers.
One of our most favorite brands, Lyonhart Bag Co, will be kicking off our Makers Trunk Show series with her ruggedly beautiful bags and wallets from 12-4.
Please drop by and say hi! There is a lot of fun stuff going on in Old Oakland on Friday and we hope you can enjoy spending time getting to know the neighbors who run shops and restaurants Downtown!
